Career Advisors 

Scott Cohen, Career Advisor & SYE Coach |(504) 314-7951

Scott Cohen provides coaching to students and helps connect them with employers through his role as a Career Coach for the Senior Year Experience (SYE) program at Tulane University. As a coach, he spends time co-creating a plan to make his students hopes and dreams a reality. He also builds rapport with students and learns about their strengths, skills, and abilities through utilizing effective and positive open-ended questions that encourages narratives. He holds a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Florida Atlantic University and bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Scott has enjoyed a diverse career as a paralegal for over a decade, in both large and small firms, as well as sales and marketing positions for companies such as United Health Group. As a Senior Student and Employer Advisor, Scott is devoted to supporting the career development of each Tulanian by connecting them with employment opportunities, internships, and alumni beneficial to their goals and professional endeavors.

Kathryn Santanilla, Career Advisor & SYE Coach |

Kathryn Santanilla is one of our Senior Year Experience (SYE) Career Coaches who is committed to her work with seniors in liberal arts who are shifting from their educational experiences into employment. In addition to working with seniors, she also meets with freshman through juniors who are exploring majors and gaining internship experiences. With a background in higher education and non-profit work, she brings an experience of working with diverse populations in career transitions. She has a Master of Health Science Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center.

Supporting students to succeed in higher education is a passion for Valerie Morgan. She has more than three years of experience in higher education, which includes student mentoring, academic support, and life skills education at the Tulane Academic Services Center. As both a course instructor of Majors, Internships and Jobs (CRDV 1090) and career advisor, she works with students to plan and actualize their academic and career futures. Valerie earned a Master's degree in social work from Tulane University and is currently pursuing an Associate Certified Coaching credential from the International Coaching Federation. Valerie genuinely enjoys getting to know her students and providing a personalized approach to success for each and every student.

Geneva Torrence, Career Advisor & Career Development Instructor | (504) 247-1739

Geneva Torrenceis a higher education enthusiast with a passion for helping students succeed. She serves as a career educator and advisor. In her role as a career educator for the career development course Majors, Internships and Jobs (CRDV 1090), Geneva works closely with first-year students on academic and career planning. Along with teaching career development, she also does one-on-one career coaching and is an adjunct instructor for the Tulane School of Professional Development. Geneva enjoys the opportunity to work with others in a team setting and building interpersonal relationships. She holds a Master's degree in liberal arts from Tulane University and has earned her Associate Certified Coaching credential from the International Coaching Federation.

Eddy Cruz, Assistant Dean & Executive Director |

Eddy is brand new to Tulane and New Orleans, coming to us from the University of Miami in Florida. He is here to lead the NTC Career Services team, in collaboration with campus partners, to offer tailored career services that meet the needs of all Tulane students. To ensure students are at ease with the career development process, he's looking forward to creating new initiatives to enhance services here. His goal is to work on eliminating barriers for students to engage with the services and events and has access to opportunities and networks. As a first-generation college student and student mentor, he is passionate about serving the needs of this community specifically. Eddy has an M.A. in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Indiana University of PA and a B.A. in Speech Communication. He has presented at national events on career-focused initiatives including NACE this past year in Orlando, Florida.  Outside the office he spends time at his local church, capturing moments through photography and raising his 4-year-old son, Benjamin with his life partner Juliana.
